The Rendezvous wouldn't be the Rendezvous without loads of sweaty bodies shaking it on the dance floor. That is what a tribe does: they celebrate, they eat, they drink, they dance, and then, if they feel like it, they howl at the moon. This year we expect to see more dancing than ever. And hopefully more howling.
We are pleased to announce that The Amity Front will be playing Vous6!!
Our friend Kevin Riley from Urban Climber is a bonafide music freak and has been instrumental (get it?) in lining up this Amherst, Mass-based band to come play. Thanks! And Thanks to Asolo for paying! Their influences range from Ray Charles, The Dead, and Wilco to Little Feat, Tony Rice and The Band. Sounds good to us. Here's what folks are saying about them:
"This exceedingly eclectic group has a wide and varied sound that is communicated in a true and honest manner...Seemingly disparate styles seem to seamlessly flow together. Their sound is rooted in the blues but certainly not limited by the form. They stretch their music in some very interesting directions." Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange, Bob Gottlieb
"The Amity Front is clearly a band on the rise. Their chops are impressive in their restraint, and they have a musical richness that comes from long summer days sitting on the porch pickin'" Northeast Performer Magazine, Jan. 2006
"The Amity Front are one of the most exciting bands I've heard in a while...a sound and feel well beyond their years, with their ears to the ground." Dave "Goody" Goodrich, acclaimed producer
"The Amity Front mixes the funky twang of the blues and good old 'American rock and roll music' in their debut." anonymous reviewer
Also back in 2008:
ODUB will be back with hilarious new material and will also be stepping up to assume the bulk of the emcee duties. When it comes to Odub's razor-sharp wit, nothing in the climbing world is sacred--especially Dean Potter. Ouch. Anyone who has caught his act or listened to his CD's appreciates the sharp humor, the intimate knowledge of the climbing scene and of course, the killer beats. We love this guy and are really pleased that he offered to come back. And just to show he totally gets the reason for the Rendezvous, he is donating his services. Our kind of guy. Offstage he goes by Kris. Don't miss his opening set.
Thanks to Asolo, Urban Climber and Odub for making the music happen at this years' Rendezvous.
